A small repair kit can help you solve common issues on the trail. The right contents depend on your bike's components, ride length and how remote the trail is.
Inflation and tire repair
Carry a suitable mini pump or compatible CO2 system, plus a spare inner tube that fits your wheel and tire in case a puncture can't be sealed on the trail. Tubeless riders may also carry a compatible tire-plug tool. Check that your valve type, pump head and any CO2 components work together before riding.
A multitool for your bike's fasteners
Choose a tool with the hex, Torx and other drivers required on your bike. Review your bike's common fastener sizes; don't assume every multitool covers them all.
Chain and drivetrain basics
A compact chain tool and the correct spare master or connecting link can be useful. Chain links are not universally interchangeable across drivetrain families and speeds; follow the chain manufacturer's guidance and use a compatible part.
Spare parts and protection
Depending on terrain, carry tire levers, an appropriate spare valve core, a derailleur hanger designed for your frame, and a first-aid kit. Tools don't replace knowing how to perform a safe repair—practice at home and follow component instructions.
